Position: Respiratory Therapist- Geriatrics

Salary Range: $40 - $42 per hour

Hours: 35 hours per week, 3/12 hour day shifts with rotating weekends

Facility: This position is located at a healthcare facility that specializes in providing care for geriatric patients. The facility offers short stay rehabilitation services for patients transitioning from a hospital stay, as well as long term care for those who require ongoing support. The facility also has a dedicated ventilator unit for patients who require respiratory support.

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our team at our geriatric care facility. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a crucial role in providing respiratory care for our patients. Your main responsibility will be to assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory disorders, with a focus on the geriatric population.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct respiratory assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients

- Administer and monitor respiratory treatments and therapies, such as oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, and chest physiotherapy

- Monitor and maintain patients on mechanical ventilators, including troubleshooting and making adjustments as needed

- Educate patients and their families on respiratory care and disease management

- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients

- Document all patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field

- Current state license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist

- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with geriatric patients

- Experience working in a long term care or rehabilitation setting preferred

- Strong knowledge of respiratory disorders and treatments

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic medical records
